An Abstract of Title contains a history of a property from the beginning of time the property was deeded from the United States Government to the first owner. Today abstracts are prepared according to the 40 Year Marketable Title Act. The original conveyance is called a patent and is the oldest entry in the abstract. After the patent there may be other entries that include transfers of the property by either deed or contract, mortgages, estates, divorces, etc. All these affect the title to the property. It is the Abstracter’s job to search the public records and include all transactions that relate to the described real estate as described by the real estate description. The Abstracter can help you understand the description of your property.

The Fayette County Abstract Company is owned by Tex R. Heyer and Steven C. Heyer. The company was established in the early 1930’s and Tex Heyer purchased the company in 1985. The Fayette County Abstract Company has a complete set of records of the land transfers for Fayette County. The many years of abstracting experience will ensure that the title to your property has been researched and reported both extensively and accurately.
